Introduction
Keeping toilets clean is essential for maintaining hygiene and preventing infections. A well maintained washroom ensures a pleasant experience for users and upholds sanitation standards. This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provides a structured approach for janitors to follow for daily and weekly toilet cleaning.

To establish a systematic and effective procedure for toilet cleaning, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.

Janitors are responsible for executing this cleaning process efficiently and maintaining hygiene in toilets.
Toilet Cleaning Procedure
Daily Cleaning Steps
Maintain Cleanliness Throughout the Day
- Ensure toilets remain clean and dry with periodic cleaning.
Flushing & Water Rinse
- Flush all WCs and urinals in the morning.
- Splash water inside the washbasins to remove initial dirt.
Cleaning the WC (Toilet Bowl)
- Use a WC brush to drain out excess water from the bowl.
- Spray Taski R6 cleaner under the rim, inside the bowl, and around water outlets.
- Let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes to break down stains and dirt.
- Scrub with a toilet brush and flush thoroughly.
Cleaning Urinals
- If the urinal waste drain is not metallic, spray Taski R6 and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, flush and scrub if needed.
- If the urinal waste drain is metallic, use Taski R1 (diluted: 20 ml in 1 liter of water) and follow the same process.
Cleaning Washbasins, Counters, and Fixtures
- Spray Taski R1 (diluted) on washbasins, taps, and stainless steel (SS) fixtures.
- Scrub with a soft nylon brush and rinse with water.
- Wipe all surfaces dry with a clean cloth.
Cleaning Mirrors & Glass Surfaces
- Spray Taski R3 (diluted: 20 to 50 ml in 1 liter of water) on a clean cloth or sponge.
- Wipe all glass surfaces and mirrors and dry them with a lint free cloth.
Cleaning Walls & Floors
- Mop hard floors with a wet mop using Taski R1 solution.
- Spray Taski R1 on wall tiles and scrub with a nylon scrubber.
- Dry mop the floors after cleaning to remove excess moisture.
Restocking & Final Check
- Refill soap dispensers, toilet roll holders, and waste bins.
- Ensure no water spills, and all surfaces are completely dry.
- Remove garbage and clean the waste bins.
Weekly Deep Cleaning Steps
Follow all daily cleaning steps and include the following:
Ceiling & Light Fittings
- Use a feather duster to clean moldings and light fixtures.
- Clean ceiling mounted fittings as per standard procedures.
Hard Water Stain & Dirt Removal
- Spray Taski R9 (diluted: 50 to100 ml in 1 liter of water) on sinks, tubs, tiles, and SS fixtures.
- Scrub gently to remove hard water stains and rinse with plain water.
Deep Floor Cleaning
- Scrub hard floors, marble, granite, and tiles thoroughly to remove deep seated stains.
Final Inspection
- Ensure all fixtures and surfaces are spotless and properly sanitized.
Safety Instructions
- Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per the safety chart.
- Handle cleaning chemicals carefully and use them as per the recommended dilution ratios.
- Avoid excessive water spills to prevent slips and falls.
